Accountant
The Accountant will have extensive expertise in preparing and maintaining general ledger, reviewing financial statements, preparing financial reports, assist with audits and reconciling accounts. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller to provide management information regarding financials, assist with month end and year end detailed analysis. The Staff Accountant maintains financial records, prepares journal entries, reconciles bank accounts, and assists with month-end closing, ensuring compliance with GAAP. They support financial reporting, audit preparation, and budgeting. Key skills include proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Excel), analytical abilities, and strong communication for team collaboration.
Job Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Management: Maintain, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts and post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements (balance sheets, income statements) for accuracy and compliance.
- Month-End Close: Assist in the closing process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and validating data.
- Audit & Tax Support: Prepare documentation for external auditors and assist with tax filing, including sales tax returns.
- Banking & Transactions: Perform bank reconciliations, monitor cash flow, and manage accounts payable/receivable records.
- Budgeting & Analysis: Contribute to the development of annual operating budgets and analyze variances.
· Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
· Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data.
· Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information.
· Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts.
· Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
· Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes.
· Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
· Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
· Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
· Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Experience: 5–10 years of accounting experience and/or Minimum 5 years of hands-on work experience in a fast-paced accounting department
- Skills: Proficiency in Excel (accounting software) and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, strong analytical skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
· Flexibility and willingness to work overtime.
