NKC of America, Inc. is an automotive conveyor system supplier seeking an Electrical Panel Shop Manager to direct daily shop operations, technical panel assembly, quality control, and shop floor personnel. This position acts as a critical liaison between production operations and executive leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily.
Other duties, assignments, and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of management.
Operations & Production Management
- Oversee daily operations of the electrical panel shop, overseeing safety, high quality, assembly, wiring, component mounting, and testing of custom control panels.
- Manage, mentor, and schedule panel shop technicians, wiremen, and assembly staff.
- Enforce adherence to electrical schematics, point-to-point wiring diagrams, Bill of Materials (BOMs), UL 508A guidelines, and NEC codes.
- Maintain quality control standards, ensuring all panels meet customer specifications, UL 508A standards, and NEC codes.
- Schedule shop personnel and allocate labor hours to ensure projects meet client delivery deadlines within budget targets.
- Monitor project budgets, labor hours, and material utilization to optimize shop profitability and reduce waste.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Lean) to streamline assembly workflows and reduce waste.
Team Leadership & Quality Assurance
- Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate panel shop technicians, wiremen, and shop leads.
- Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and point-to-point electrical testing before shipment.
- Work closely with Procurement and Logistics to manage local component inventory and resolve material shortages.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in electrical control panel assembly, industrial automation, or panel
fabrication, with 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Technical Expertise: Ability to read complex electrical schematics, strong knowledge of UL 508A panel
building standards, PLCs, VFDs, and motor controls.
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or
equivalent practical experience.
- Cultural Background: Experience working within a Japanese company or cross-cultural corporate
environment is a plus.
