Job Summary
Manufab Metal & Powdercoating is hiring a SolidWorks CAD Designer to support our fabrication shop. This position is responsible for creating accurate shop drawings, models, and production files for custom metal projects.
This role requires someone who can read construction plans, use Bluebeam for takeoffs and markups, and translate real-world conditions into practical, buildable designs.
Responsibilities
- Create 3D models and detailed shop drawings using SolidWorks
- Produce fabrication-ready drawings with dimensions, weld symbols, and material specifications
- Generate DXF files, cut lists, and BOMs for CNC plasma and shop production
- Read and interpret construction drawings and building plans
- Use Bluebeam to review plans, perform takeoffs, and mark up drawings
- Work from field measurements, sketches, and project specs
- Coordinate with shop team to ensure designs are efficient and buildable
- Revise drawings based on field changes and production feedback
- Maintain organized file structure and drawing revisions
Requirements
- Proficient in SolidWorks (required)
- Experience reading construction documents and building plans
- Experience using Bluebeam Revu for plan review and markups
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, welding, forming)
- Ability to create accurate, production-ready drawings
- High attention to detail and organization
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
