Painting & Finishing Laborer
Xcel Fabrication is looking for a hands-on individual to join our team. You’ll be responsible for making sure our parts look professional and the finish lasts. While you may help with general shop tasks, your primary focus will be surface preparation, sandblasting, and masking. If you take pride in seeing a project go from raw steel to a finished product, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do:
- Surface Prep: Clean, degrease, and sand parts to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Precision Masking: Use tape and plugs to protect threads and specific areas from blast and paint.
- Sandblasting: Operate blast equipment to remove scale and prepare surfaces for coating.
- Painting Support: Assist with the application of primers and finishes, and manage parts on drying racks.
- Material Handling: Safely move and hang parts for the blasting and painting process.
- Shop Maintenance: Keep the paint booth and blasting area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- Detail-Oriented: You understand that a great paint job is 90% preparation.
- Dependable: You show up on time with a strong work ethic and a "can-do" attitude.
- Physically Capable: Able to lift up to 50 lbs and remain active/on your feet throughout the shift.
- Safety Conscious: Comfortable wearing required PPE (respirators, blast hoods, etc.) and following strict safety protocols.
- Experience: Prior experience in sandblasting, powder coating, or industrial painting is a major plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
