Highway construction company in Las Cruces, NM, specializing in heavy civil and government facilities projects. We're seeking an experienced Controller to lead our financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting functions: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, job costing, bank treasury, and general ledger.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and Contract status reports.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, DOT, bonding, and audit requirements.
- Oversee cash flow management and vendor payments.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff.
- Partner with project managers on budgeting and cost control.
- Oversee certified payroll, payroll return filings and payroll reconciliations.
- Oversee gross receipts tax reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA license preferred.
- At a minimum, 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles.
- Previous construction accounting experience required (heavy civil/highway preferred).
- Strong knowledge of job costing and WIP reporting.
- Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint).
Compensation
- Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000 annually.
