Our client in the Life Sciences space is looking for a Senior Director or VP of Total Rewards to build and lead their compensation, benefits, and equity strategy. This role will own the design, implementation, and governance of the company's total rewards programs — base pay, incentive compensation, equity/long-term incentives, and benefits — ensuring the organization can attract and retain top scientific, clinical, and commercial talent in a competitive biotech labor market.
Responsibilities
- Design and administer global compensation programs, including base salary structures, annual incentive plans, and long-term equity programs (stock options, RSUs)
- Lead job architecture, leveling, and market pricing to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness
- Oversee health and welfare benefits, retirement programs, and perquisites across the employee population
- Manage compensation survey participation and benchmarking against biotech/life sciences peer groups
- Partner with HR leadership and Finance on annual compensation planning, merit cycles, and budget forecasting
- Support executive compensation processes, including proxy disclosure and Compensation Committee materials
- Ensure compliance with pay equity, FLSA, and relevant state/federal compensation regulations
- Lead and develop a team of compensation and benefits professionals
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CCP/CEBS certification a plus
- 10 years of progressive compensation/total rewards experience, including people leadership
- Biotech, pharma, or life sciences industry experience strongly preferred
- Deep expertise in equity compensation design and administration
- Experience with executive compensation and board-level reporting
- Strong analytical, project management, and stakeholder communication skills
- Familiarity with HRIS/compensation platforms
Compensation:
- Base salary in the $220-300k range
