The Warranty Technician plays a key role in evaluating customer-returned products, performing detailed inspections, and determining root cause of failures. This position supports problem-solving activities, maintains warranty documentation, ensures compliance with MANN HUMMEL quality systems, and collaborates with internal teams to uphold product integrity and customer expectations.
Main Tasks
Problem Solving & Part Analysis
- Perform visual and physical inspections on customer returns and internal parts.
- Conduct root cause investigations to determine failure mode and verify whether product and process requirements were met.
- Lead problem-solving activities with cross-functional teams.
- Analyze statistical and technical data to validate corrective actions and improvement projects.
- Test parts according to defined standards and document results.
- Apply solid working knowledge of the MANN HUMMEL Management System (MMS) and customer-specific requirements.
- Lead the MMS Field Failure Analysis (FFA) process.
- Participate in Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
- Maintain the internal MHUS warranty log system.
- Enter field complaint data into SAP QM/WM (Z2) as needed.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
- Interpret drawings, FMEAs, control plans, validation test plans, and other documentation to understand all inspection and test requirements.
- Determine product disposition for warranty returns: scrap, hold, return to customer, or escalate for further review.
- Make product disposition decisions as needed (release, scrap, use-as-is, HOLD, etc.).
- Communicate product usage, intent, and requirements to other employees.
- High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality inspection or plastics manufacturing preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience with SAP and Cim Database (CDB) preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks with minimal supervision.
