General Accountability
A Shipping Pallet Builder assembles boxes, skids, crates, or platforms used for shipping equipment and machine parts. Pallet-Order builders also plan and build or assemble the most effective crating method for new or unusual items.
Shift: 2nd
Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for accurately building and staging orders based on a pick ticket for loading onto delivery trucks
- Use appropriate manual or powered tools safely
- Verify the boxes, skids, crates, or platforms built is accurate with the order request
- Understand how to safely operate and use power/manual tools
- Insure Quality Control Standards and Practices are occurring (recording errors, inspect parts for damage, correct shortages, wrong parts and using QC Forms)
- Meet and exceed daily productivity and quality standards
- Record daily productivity on Progress Control Boards per Lean Philosophy
- Operates stand up and sit down forklifts – or is willing to be trained
- Responsible to help maintain cleanliness and 5S standards
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as part of the job function while using safe lifting requirements
- Must be willing to be cross-trained in other areas in the warehouse as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members
- Able to work independently under minimal supervision
- Able to stand for extended periods of time, lifting multiple pounds regularly
- Must perform within the Company Safety Program and Polices
- Perform miscellaneous activities as directed to support the efficient operation of the warehouse
- Requires a high school education or equivalent
- Previous experience with a Barcode Scanning System/handheld preferred
- Forklift Certification preferred (order picker, reach truck) must be able to pass the forklift certification test
- Previous warehouse, crate builder or working with wood (carpenterie) experience preferred
- Must be a self-starter, motivated and focused to work independently within the established perimeters assigned.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
- Some Computer Skills and basic math skills needed
- Must be able to work with others and as a Team
- Attention to detail and organizational skills needed
- Learn Lean Philosophy within the organization to focus on and participate in Continuous Improvement & Learning to improve processes, efficiencies and increased profitability
