Essential Functions
- User Support:** Assist students, teachers, and administrators with technology-related issues, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity problems. Provide patient, clear guidance in person, via phone, or through remote tools to minimize disruptions to learning and operations. Educate users on safe computing practices, phishing awareness, and district security policies as part of daily support interactions.
- System Maintenance and Installation:** Install, configure, and maintain a wide range of devices and systems, including Windows, Apple, Android, and Linux systems. This includes deploying updates, performing repairs, and ensuring compatibility across platforms. Apply security patches promptly, maintain antivirus/endpoint protection tools, and ensure devices are configured according to district security standards.
- Network Maintenance and Installation:** Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity. Key tasks include configuring and monitoring devices like routers, switches, and wireless systems, resolving connectivity issues, supporting security systems, and assisting users with network access. This role requires foundational networking knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform basic installations and maintenance. Assist with monitoring firewall, content filter, and wireless security settings. Escalate suspicious activity or potential breaches to senior staff.
- Cloud and Application Management**: Support Microsoft and Google cloud environments, including user account management, data migration, and integration with educational tools. Assisting users with logins, workflows, and functionality. Apply software updates, patches, and security configurations to maintain system reliability and compliance with data privacy standards. Ensure proper role-based access controls, support multifactor authentication rollouts, and help monitor account activity for anomalies.
- Documentation and Training:** Keep detailed records of support tickets, inventory, and maintenance activities. Conduct basic training sessions for staff and students on technology use to promote self-sufficiency and security. Participate in regular security awareness training and encourage best practices among staff and students.
- Collaboration:** Work closely with IT team members, staff, students, vendors, and school administrators to implement technology upgrades.
- Equipment Handling and Safety:** Independently lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 100 pounds at irregular times with assistance. Use power tools, ladders, and lifts to install or repair technology in hard-to-reach areas, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Education and Experience:** Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Mini um of 2-3 years of experience in IT support, ideally in an educational or business environment.
- Proficiency in Windows OS administration; familiarity with macOS, iOS, Android, and Linux.
- Basic networking knowledge, including experience with maintaining enterprise environments.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure/365 and Google Workspace.
- Knowledge of educational software and systems.
- Managing and supporting projectors, smartboards, professional audio systems, and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom.
- Soft Skills:** Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse users, including children and non-technical adults. Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to prioritize tasks and compliance in a high-volume setting.
- Certifications:** Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A , Network , Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or Google IT Support) are preferred.
- Background Check:** Candidates must obtain a Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check, a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and an FBI Criminal Background Check before starting in this position.

- EVALUATION: **Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Technology.
- TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: **The Systems Specialist position is a twelve (12) month, non-exempt position. In the event of a district emergency or critical systems failure, the Systems Specialist may be required to report on-site outside of regular hours to restore operations and ensure continuity of essential services.
