What are the responsibilities and job description for the FT School Psychologist, District-Wide position at Manheim Central School District?
The Manheim Central School District is seeking a FT School Psychologist for the 2026-2027 school year.
This position is responsible for monitoring, assisting and giving instructional aid to special needs students; psycho-educational evaluations of children referred for eligibility for special education programs, gifted program student evaluations; and for the re-evaluation of students in special education programs and gifted programs.
Essential Functions:
Consultation and Collaboration:
- Provide consultation to parents, school staff and administration to identify learning and behavioral patterns that impact a student’s school performance.
- Participation in building level team meetings that focus on supports and interventions aimed at reducing the barriers to learning.
Assessment and Identification:
- Facilitate initial Multidisciplinary Evaluation (MDE) process for students referred due to significant learning and/or behavioral difficulties.
- Gather academic and behavioral data (e.g., interviews, checklists, observations, etc.) in order to provide a comprehensive profile of student’s strengths and educational needs.
- Administer, score, and analyze data from individualized student assessments.
- Compile and type written documentation of individual assessments along with information provided by various MDE team members.
- Facilitate initial Multidisciplinary Evaluations (MDE) for students referred for eligibility for gifted services.
Program Support:
- Review and sign all 2 and 3 year Multidisciplinary Re-evaluations of students currently receiving special education services.
- Participate in a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting, as needed, to discuss goals, objectives and specially designed instruction.
- Complete and gather additional assessment data for re-evaluations when a student’s IEP team determines the need to further clarify a student’s disability and/or educational need.
- Contribute and analyze data to help determine the function of a student’s problem behavior in order to assist in the development of a positive behavior plan.
Professional Practice:
- Attend workshops/conferences/network meetings to stay apprised of new developments in the field of school psychology.
- Maintain confidentiality procedures while working with students and their families.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding children’s educational rights.
- Follow school board policies and procedures.
Requirements
A master’s degree in School Psychology is required as well as a valid PA School Psychologist Certification. Experience in a school setting; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrate ability to work well with students and adults; demonstrate support or district initiatives.
