Job Description
The Dispatch Officer of Campus Safety is Stationed at the Main Campus Safety Headquarters. The Dispatch Officer reports directly to the Director of Campus Safety. This is a community-facing position that requires engagement with the University’s Community and its visitors, to create a safe and welcoming environment. This officer Dispatches emergency services when needed and views Security Cameras within the Campus Safety Headquarters. The Dispatch Officer acts as a first responder in the event of an emergency while adhering to the University’s guidelines.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Possess a Current Valid NYS Security License
This is an hourly non-exempt position with a rate of $20.58.
Hours Expectation
Full-time, 40 hours per week and Part-time, 29 hours per week
Work Location:
In person (Manhattanville Campus)

Job Description

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Work collectively with the Shift Supervisor Officer and other Officers to ensure the operations of the shift.
- Dispatch Shift Supervisor to locations of interest throughout the campus.
- Answer phones and communicate with various University Departments.
- Communicate with the local Police Department, EMS, Fire Department, etc. during an emergency.
- Assist Residence and Student Life with enforcement of hall regulations and Code of Conduct Violations and work with other University Departments as necessary to perform duties and responsibilities.
- Observe and report hazardous conditions to the Director of Campus Safety or their designee
- Ensure only authorized persons are admitted to the campus while on duty.
- Direct visitors and assists as necessary.
- Monitor CCTV System, Fire Panel System, Card Access and Door Access System.
- Create and distribute Student ID cards with Access.
- Enforce campus traffic regulations including parking, and speeding.
- Enforce campus policies including smoking, alcohol usage, and drug usage.
- Observe weather conditions on campus and report dangerous or unusual weather-related activity to the Director of Campus Safety or their designee.
- Complete investigations of University violations, including viewing camera footage, talking with witnesses, and writing incident reports
- Act as a liaison for the College with local law enforcement and EMS when required.
- May be required to perform incidental custodial and maintenance duties as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service background a plus.
- Ability to cultivate a positive work environment, and communication
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work well with other University departments
- Mentally analyze a situation, solve problems and make decisions under pressure in the area of responsibility.
- Read and understand written instructions and communicate information and ideas in clear and concise written form.
- Keep all necessary licensure current and valid
Possess a Current Valid NYS Security License
- Clean Valid Driver’s license
- CPR and First Aide Training Required
- Proficient with technology including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Teams
- At least two years of related experience
- Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Must regularly stand or walk for extended periods of time in all climates.
