POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director of Campus Safety, the Campus Safety Officer is responsible for providing safety and security services to students; faculty, staff and visitors at The Spence School. Responsibilities include quality school oriented problem-solving safety and security services that maintain a safe and secure academic environment and physical security of the school.
KEY RESPONSINILITIES
- Maintain a presence at the front door/security booth while monitoring surveillance cameras and screening visitors, contractors, etc. prior to entrance into the school in any of the three campus buildings.
- Patrol and monitor any of the three campus buildings to ensure safety and security.
- Aid in Fire Drills
- Attend field trips and sporting events as required to ensure a secure environment.
- Make physical tours inside and outside of buildings, facilities, and school grounds to make sure the school is safe and secure. Unlock, and secure buildings, offices, rooms, and classrooms, as needed.
- Communicate security status, updates, special post orders and instructions, and actual or potential problems, using established protocols
- Implement and comply with security standards, policies, and procedures general orders and instructions in carrying out the Campus Safety Officer functions.
- Take note of building, office, and classroom openings, closings, all activities at the school and activities needed for the shift or assignment.
- Respond to all calls for service and emergencies during the assigned tour of duty, following established response procedures.
- Report school incidents, crimes, and respond to all emergencies, including the processing of all required documentation.
- Answer the Security telephone, check phone mail messages, and properly operate the assigned duty portable radio.
- Performs all other related tasks and duties as assigned.
- Be good with technology.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
DAYS AND SHIFTS
Tuesday – Saturday
Tuesday – Thursday – 2pm – 10pm
Friday – 10am – 6pm
Saturday – 7am – 5pm
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience working in a Security Officer or Safety Officer capacity
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in the English language.
- High level and effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in the use and operation of technology equipment used to accomplish duties and responsibilities.
- Valid Security License
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
ERGONOMIC REQUIRMENTS
- Ability to walk the school property, climb stairs, physically able to assist or carry a disabled, ill or injured person.
- Ability to sit in a chair and stand for long periods of time on hard pavement or ground while performing security duties.
- Perform other movements, such as stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, carrying, and other movements for short periods of time.
- Ability to work inside and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Salary : $22 - $24
