What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager (Events/Tradeshows) position at Mango Chamba, LLC?
Production Manager
We are seeking a highly driven Production Manager to run our active shop floor and oversee all physical manufacturing of custom trade show displays and marketing environments. This role is strictly designed for a former hands-on tradesperson—someone who has spent years on the tools, speaks the language of the builders, and commands the respect of the floor. You will bridge the gap between project management and physical execution, ensuring that everything from initial pre-build staging to final CNC routing is executed with precision, safety, and efficiency.
Core Responsibilities
- Shop Floor Leadership: Direct daily operations across the entire fabrication facility, orchestrating workflows between carpentry, CNC, finishing, and staging teams to hit strict project deadlines.
- Pre-Build & Fabrication Oversight: Manage the end-to-end manufacturing lifecycle. Review technical blueprints, stage raw materials during the pre-build phase, and monitor the structural integrity of the fabrication process.
- CNC & Carpentry Management: Provide advanced technical guidance and troubleshooting support to CNC operators and master carpenters to optimize machine run-times and minimize material waste.
- Warehouse Operations: Oversee all standard warehouse duties, including inventory control, tool maintenance, inbound raw material receiving, and the strategic packing of outbound freight.
- Hands-On Mentorship: Utilize your extensive background as a builder to train junior staff, troubleshoot complex structural challenges directly on the floor, and enforce a culture of high craftsmanship.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous OSHA safety protocols, ensuring all machinery is properly guarded, workspaces remain clear, and the team operates within a secure environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Hands-On Background: 7 years of direct, hands-on experience in custom fabrication, high-end carpentry, or scenic building, coupled with 3 years in a shop management or foreman capacity.
- Technical Mastery: Deep, practical knowledge of wood and metal fabrication, CNC routing operations, laminating, and finishing processes.
- Blueprint Literacy: Expert ability to read, interpret, and build directly from complex architectural CAD drawings and graphic elevations.
- Warehouse Logistics: Proven experience managing warehouse operations, including forklift operation, material handling, and freight loading.
- Floor-Present Leadership: A practical, lead-from-the-front management style. You must be comfortable stepping away from the desk to actively guide the crew through complex builds.
Must be able to pass a stringent background check and drug test.
