Role Description The Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time role based in Oldwick, NJ. This role manages the full volunteer lifecycle, including recruiting, screening, onboarding, scheduling, and retaining volunteers for all programming. Day-to-day responsibilities include organizing and leading volunteer orientations and training sessions, maintaining accurate volunteer records, and ensuring appropriate coverage for all programs. The Volunteer Coordinator will communicate regularly with volunteers and staff, address questions or concerns, and recognize volunteers’ contributions through appreciation initiatives. The role also collaborates with community partners, schools, and local organizations to build a sustainable volunteer pipeline and support Mane Stream’s programs and events.
Qualifications
- Strong volunteer management and volunteer training skills, including experience coordinating schedules, leading orientations, and supporting ongoing development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage volunteers, staff, participants, and community partners in a clear, respectful, and supportive manner.
- Experience with community outreach, such as building relationships with schools, businesses, and local organizations to recruit and retain volunteers.
- Organizational and administrative skills, including proficiency with scheduling tools, databases or volunteer management systems, and basic office software.
- Ability to work on-site in Oldwick, NJ on a regular basis, with flexibility to work some hours remotely as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven, nonprofit environment; experience with equine or therapeutic programs is a plus but not required.
- Problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and responsive in a dynamic program setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
