Position Summary

The Nester is responsible for creating and optimizing laser nesting programs using SigmaNest software based on production demand exported from the company’s ERP system. This role works closely with laser operators and materials personnel to improve nesting efficiency, minimize scrap, and support production workflow. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with manufacturing software systems, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Role and Responsibilities

• Create nesting programs for laser cutting machines using SigmaNest software based on demand exported from the ERP system.
• Collaborate with laser operators to improve nesting strategies to reduce scrap and optimize laser cutting time.
• Review part designs and identify opportunities for standardized nesting programs.
• Monitor work order action messages and move or cancel work orders as necessary.
• Assist the Materials department with cycle counts, document management, and work order generation.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to nesting programs and production jobs.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production efficiency and material utilization.
• Complete assigned projects and additional duties as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Previous experience with nesting software, CAD systems, and ERP software.
• Above-average computer skills with the ability to learn and utilize manufacturing software systems.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, particularly in metal fabrication.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Willingness to work flexible hours based on production needs.

Additional Requirements

• Authorization to work in the United States is required.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and participate in random drug testing.
