Special Educator - ANCHOR

Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union seeks a dedicated and experienced Special Educator - ANCHOR to join our team! ANCHOR is a district-wide program housed at Manchester Elementary Middle School. The ANCHOR program is specifically designed for students in grades K-8 whose behaviors substantially impact their ability to meaningfully access the general education classroom instruction. The ANCHOR Program provides a predictable, therapeutic, and structured educational environment with direct instruction in social-emotional skill development and the teaching of self-regulation strategies. In this position, the Special Educator - ANCHOR will develop and implement social/emotional learning and behavioral educational programs for students in Grades K-4 at Manchester Elementary Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and trauma-informed program development, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.The program’s objective is to provide direct instruction in applied academic concepts, develop self-regulation skills that students can apply across classroom settings, and create functional learning opportunities to develop independence. Applicants are expected to be familiar with current evidence-based instructional practices and trauma informed practices and should be comfortable providing specialized programming in a pull-out setting as well as collaborating with other professionals in an inclusive setting. Strong candidates will demonstrate a student-centered approach, exemplary oral and written communication skills, strong relationship building skills with students, and a commitment to working collaboratively with all colleagues. • $45,500 to $85,800, based on education level and years of experience.
