Summary
Our Eastern Iowa Asphalt Division has an opening for an Asphalt Paving Superintendent in Blue Grass, IA. Responsibilities include supervising, managing and coordinating the efforts of the foreman and field labor force on a day-to-day basis. This individual will directly supervise 3 or more crews on multiple projects and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Accurately prepares time sheets for entire crew.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or international equivalent (experience may be substituted for education)
Minimum 7 years’ experience heavy civil experience with 5 years’ experience as a foreman preferred.
Experience on most of the construction equipment used in road work as well as the ability to supervise and direct the activities of employees engaged on the project.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Must be able to read and understand paving design and specifications.
Knowledge of Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT)
X-B-E Material Supply Management Solutions experience.
Ability to communicate effectively with management staff, company project staff, vendors, contractors, and owners on any issues/problems related to the project.
Skills in listening, problem solving, and running effective meetings with the ability to be open-minded.
Ability to handle emergency situations with a calm attitude.
Ability to lay out, direct and supervise the work of a crew to obtain efficient results.
Ability to train and educate others.
Practical knowledge of OSHA laws, regulations, and policies.
Good computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
Good driving record.
Ability to assist in other work-related areas as necessary.
Willingness to travel around the state of Iowa as needed, as well as work approximately 50 hours per week.
