What you will be doing: Responsible for the career case management of students enrolled in the advanced center training (ACT) and other training programs (OTP) in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential Functions
- Plan and coordinate the center’s OTP and ACT programs
- Responsible for the overall case management of students enrolled in the center’s ACT/OCT program
- Conduct personal interview and other assessments to analyze and recommend referral services for each assigned students as needed; refer students to other program areas as appropriate and necessary
- Manage the college application process for OTP and ACT students
- Guides students through the college and FAFSA application process
- Ensure potential ACT college students participate in academic and center activities promoting and preparing them for college entry
- Maintain college counseling file and documentation in accordance with MTC and DOL guidelines
- Ensure college students duty status and CIS schedule are reflected accurately in CIS. Responsible for verifying, documenting and requesting personal and administrative leaves. Ensure attendance is documented in CIS
- Responsible for college recruitment activities. Meet with career preparation classes to review the program requirements and benefits
- Develop, foster and maintain relationships with ACT institute officials. Responsible for the maintenance and creation of MOUs and Articulation agreements
- Document student movement and performance throughout CDSS in case notes, PCDP and counseling folder
- Works collaboratively with center staff to ensure student needs are being met. Documents services in CIS and counseling folder. Serve as the chair of student’s case management team
- Conduct evaluations of student progress in CIS
- Maintain student confidentiality in accordance to the Privacy Act of 1974
- Conduct group counseling services as assigned
- Document UA retrieval efforts in case notes
- Participate in required staff training
- Facilitate evaluation of center services for students and recommend modifications for improvement
- Assess the need for and recommend medical or psychiatric evaluation for emotional or psychological problems; document results and take remedial action when warranted
- Serve as chairperson of the career management team for assigned caseloads
- Conduct continuous interpretation and evaluation of progress in students specific development program; coordinate problem cases and point out areas in which guidance and development can be improved; maintain documentation and record
- Provide continuous adjustment counseling on an individual and group basis
- Provide direct aid to students with personal problems; i.e. sickness/injury/emergency leaves, etc
- Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance
- Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures effecting OTP/ACT programs
- Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy
- Promote the development of career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions\
- Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience
- Associate’s degree preferred. Related working experience will be considered in lieu of formal education requirements
- Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency also required
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
