What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substation Estimator position at Manada Electric?
Summary:
We’re looking for an experienced Substation Estimator to support our growing Utility Services Team. In this role, you’ll prepare accurate and competitive estimates for new substation construction, rebuilds, and upgrades. You’ll work closely with engineers, project managers, and vendors to ensure all costs are identified and proposals meet technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Review drawings, specifications, and scopes for substation projects (4kV–500kV).
· Perform material takeoffs for breakers, transformers, bus, grounding, steel, conduit, and cable.
· Develop detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
· Request and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for major equipment and services.
· Prepare bid packages, pricing sheets, clarifications, schedules, execution plans, and proposal content.
· Participate in internal bid reviews and work with project teams after award.
· Maintain pricing databases and support change order estimating.
Qualifications and Experience:
· 3 years of substation estimating experience.
· Overhead and underground distribution estimating experience a plus.
· Strong understanding of substation components and construction methods.
· Ability to read electrical, civil, structural, and protection/control drawings.
· Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet bid deadlines.
