Sheet Metal Fabrication — Precision Manufacturing for Advanced Aerospace Programs

We're a precision metal fabrication and machining company specializing in laser cutting, machining, and rapid prototyping, headquartered in Emmaus, PA, with a subsidiary, DMI-Texas, LLC, in Brownsville, TX. Now in our seventh year, our team of 45 across both locations is a premier vendor of tooling and components for advanced aerospace programs. If you're driven by hands-on work that contributes to the future of flight and exploration, you'll fit right in.

Why You'll Love This Role

Your estimates directly shape how DMI wins work — this is a role with real influence on the business, not a back-office number-crunching job.

Choose the location that works best for you: our Emmaus, PA headquarters or our Brownsville, TX facility.

Work on cutting-edge aerospace programs and complex prototype builds — not routine commodity parts.

Strong benefits: health/dental/vision, 401(k) with 3% match, profit sharing, and your birthday off — paid.

A clear path to impact: from ramping up in your first 90 days to becoming a trusted voice on pricing within your first year.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a detail-oriented Estimator to join our team — available at either our Emmaus, PA headquarters or our Brownsville, TX facility, whichever works best for you. This role sits at the center of how we win and price work: you'll evaluate specs and drawings, build accurate cost and timeline estimates for sheet metal fabrication projects, and work closely with engineering, production, and ownership to keep every bid competitive and profitable.

SCHEDULE & LOCATION

This is a full-time, 1st shift, on-site position. We're hiring for this role at either location:

  • Emmaus, PA (headquarters)
  • Brownsville, TX (DMI-Texas, LLC)

Please indicate your location preference when applying.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • Experience estimating costs and timelines for sheet metal fabrication or job shop production work.
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to perform accurate calculations and estimates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable interacting with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn new tools as needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Background in aerospace or industrial fabrication.
  • Experience negotiating pricing and terms with vendors or subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with job shop production scheduling and capacity planning.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Assess project requirements. Evaluate specifications, drawings, and requirements to determine the materials, labor, equipment, and other resources needed for sheet metal fabrication jobs.
  • Build accurate cost estimates. Use your knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, labor rates, and overhead to develop precise cost estimates — direct costs like materials and labor, and indirect costs like overhead and profit margin.
  • Manage project timelines. Develop realistic schedules based on scope, resource availability, and production capacity; coordinate with production and scheduling teams for accurate execution.
  • Work with vendors. Communicate with material suppliers, subcontractors, and other vendors to get pricing and lead times, negotiating favorable terms where possible.
  • Prepare and present bids. Put together comprehensive, competitive quotations for customers, and participate in bid review meetings as needed.
  • Keep clean documentation. Maintain detailed records of estimates, assumptions, methodologies, and pricing sources; help refine our estimating tools and databases over time.
  • Collaborate across teams. Work closely with engineering, production, sales, and management to align on requirements, pricing strategy, and business goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement. Stay current on industry trends and estimating best practices; look for ways to improve accuracy, process, and cost savings.
