The role involves both fieldwork and on-site facility maintenance, requiring hands-on technical skills and a proactive approach to safety and system performance.
Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on pumps, valves, motors, and water/wastewater treatment equipment
- Inspect and maintain pipelines, meters, and mechanical systems to prevent service disruptions
- Assist with emergency response to equipment failures or system outages
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
- Operate hand and power tools, forklifts, and other mechanical equipment safely and efficiently
- Support installation of new equipment and infrastructure upgrades
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards
- Collaborate with operators, technicians, and other staff to optimize system performance
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems preferred
- Proven experience in mechanical or facility maintenance, preferably in water or wastewater operations
- Strong understanding of pumps, motors, valves, and other mechanical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and operational procedures
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical diagnostic equipment
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
