What are the responsibilities and job description for the Daycare Assistant Teacher position at Mama Lucy’s Daycare?
Position Hours: 10AM - 4:30PM
The ideal candidate will have experience in childhood development, daycare, caregiving, and /or childcare. If you are enthusiastic about educating and caring for children, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning: Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive lesson plans that align with educational goals and developmental milestones.
- Safety & Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times. Supervise children both indoors and outdoors, maintaining vigilance during all activities.
- ·Activity Planning: Assist in planning and executing age-appropriate activities that stimulate children's development.
- Environment Maintenance: Ensure a secure, hygienic, and clean environment for the children. Maintain an organized daycare space.
- Health & Safety Protocols: Implement health and safety protocols, including emergency procedures and monthly fire drills.
- Parent Communication: Work with the Teacher to communicate effectively with parents about children’s daily activities, behavior, and development, either in person or via our parent/staff portal application.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with parents and staff to support children’s learning and development both at home and in the classroom.
- Meal Preparation: Assist with meal preparation and feeding, working alongside the provider to serve nutritious meals and snacks.
- Personal Care: Aid in toileting, diapering, and other personal care needs.
- Playtime & Interaction: Monitor and guide children during playtime and other activities. Encourage positive behavior and social interactions.
- Support: Provide support to the daycare provider and Teacher as needed. Assist with educational and creative activities.
- Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices in early childhood education and childcare. Participate in training sessions or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Confidentiality: Respect the privacy of families and children by maintaining confidentiality.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements. Administer basic first aid when necessary and assist with additional tasks or responsibilities as needed.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with young children in a daycare or educational setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in childcare or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Passion for working with children and helping them thrive.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families
- All required clock hours or equivalent of approved early childhood coursework (must be taken within 60 days)
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).
- Knowledge of child development theories and practices.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred).
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must have transportation
