Environmental Specialist Summary
We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our New Jersey office. This position is ideal for the motivated professional with 4 to 10 years of experience, who can independently conduct fieldwork, prepare environmental documentation, and support permitting for transportation, facilities, and site development projects. Hands-on experience with wetlands delineation is required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and document wetland delineations in accordance with USACE and NJDEP requirements; Prepare delineation reports
- Assist with preparation of permit applications, including NJDEP Freshwater Wetlands, Flood Hazard, Waterfront Development, CAFRA, and USACE Nationwide Permits
- Prepare NEPA documentation, environmental screenings and technical environmental studies (e.g., wetlands, floodplains, T&E species, cultural resources, socioeconomics)
- Perform field investigations for wetlands, streams and habitat assessments
- Support environmental permitting strategies and work with project teams to address environmental constraints
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients under guidance from senior staff
- Prepare clear, well-organized technical writing for environmental reports and documentation
Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Ecology or related field
- 4 to 10 years’ experience in environmental planning, permitting and fieldwork with a strong emphasis on wetlands delineation and reporting
- Familiarity with NJDEP and Federal environmental regulations
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, work independently in the field, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork required
