Summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Entry-Level Transportation Engineer in our growing Transportation Department to support Highway Design. The encumbent will play a key role in a variety of projects in NJ, PA and NY for major transportation agencies and municipalities. Specifically the successful candidate will provide leadership in the preparation of deliverables related to traffic analysis, traffic signal and highway/intersection lighting design, roadway and sidewalk/civil design, and guide sign design for a variety of highway, bridge, public transit and other infrastructure improvement projects.

*This position offers the option to work in our office full-time or a hybrid office-home schedule. Incumbent must be located within commuting distance.

Responsibilities

• Traffic data collection, assessments, and analysis
• Highway and Traffic Engineering Design-drafting and review of traffic signal plans, signing and striping plans, street lighting plans, curb ramp layout details, roadway plans, and traffic maintenance or traffic plans
• Traffic analysis and timing development and implementation
• Roadway engineering and sidewalk/curb ramp layouts
• Lighting design for roadways, roundabouts, intersections, bridges, parking lots, and trails
• Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Engineer's Estimates
• Technical writing and assisting with preparation of report documents and presentations
• Field visits and existing conditions documentation to support project activities

Requirements

• 0 to 3 years experience in Transportation/Civil Engineering Consulting in NJ or PA is required
• Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required
• EIT certification required; NJ, PA or NY PE license/PTOE certification, or ability to obtain preferred
• Experience with NJDOT Standards and Traffic Signal/Electrical CADD plans
• Experience with PennDOT Publications and Manuals
• Familiarity with NJDOT/PennDOT/Turnpike Authority and Port Authority of NY & NJ (PANYNJ) guidelines and standards
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation V8i/Open Roads
• Knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, HCM and ITE Trip Generation guidelines
• Knowlege of Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS 2010, Visual Lighting, GuidSign, AutoTurn software
• Performing field work data collection, traffic operation evaluations, and present findings
• Ability to create professional deliverables using client standards
• Ability to work independently to achieve task goals and keep appropriate communication with supervisors & project leadership regarding scope, schedule and budget
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
