Facilities Maintenance Worker - Full Time

Skills, Knowledge, & Personal Characteristics:

Building and machine maintenance experience. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical and machine repair is a plus. Light carpentry, wall boarding and painting. Experience with the use of tools and power tools and the ability to climb ladders. Knowledge of safety procedures, safety conscious, steady and dependable. Must be able to work quickly and efficiently and can multi-task. Must have the ability to lift, position, move, pull, or push objects from 100 lbs. with assistance as needed for necessary maintenance repairs. Flex work schedule to accommodate after hour and weekend emergencies may be required on an as needed basis.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Complete all projects assigned as may be assigned and prioritized by the Manager.
• Diagnose and preform minor and routine maintenance/repair on all agency properties and equipment in a timely and professional manor, with the ability to trouble shoot problems and fabricate forms of repair.
• Inspect exterior areas of properties. Preform building and common area upkeep in accordance with agency standards. Assist in keeping grounds neat and free of debris.
• Assist with property improvements as required, working with other staff as needed to complete projects in a timely manner.
• Complete or over see the completion of preventative maintenance while maintaining accurate records of PM.
• Order parts and supplies and maintain inventory. Maintain shop appearance to standards to facilitate quick assessment of supply inventory. Maintain proper equipment, and equipment inventory to ensure warranty compliance.
• Coordinate delivery and work schedules with vendors, contractors and Manager.
• Be available and coordinate with inspecting agencies for required routine and/or unannounced inspections to meet all licensure requirements for surveys for all agency properties.
• Preform effective emergency maintenance (after hours) as required.
• Coordinate maintenance objectives with the Manager daily.
• Preform, and report on, all work according to the safety standards of the agency, OSHA and health codes. Perform work area clean-up on a weekly basis.

You will report directly to the Manager, who has the primary authority to determine the exact “day-to-day” duties of the Maintenance Worker. This determination will take into consideration the worker’s skills and experience and how they best fit into the operational needs of the agency’s properties. May be required to work with other staff, outside vendors and various construction trades professionals.

All positions require a high school diploma/GED, current valid Illinois Driver’s license (CDL is a plus), criminal background checks and drug screening.
