Job Summary
As a Middle School Math Teacher at MWA, you are the architect of student success. You won’t just be delivering lessons; you’ll be designing culturally relevant, standards-based experiences that make complex mathematical concepts accessible and exciting. You will play a dual role as both an instructional expert and a dedicated mentor, guiding a cohort of students through their academic and social-emotional journey. Your impact will include: - Driving Growth: Delivering high-quality instruction to 4-5 classes, ensuring significant, measurable growth in mathematical proficiency for every student. - Mentorship: Leading an Advisory/Homeroom group, providing 1-on-1 check-ins, social-emotional learning, and post-secondary planning support. - Data-Driven Innovation: Utilizing school-wide benchmarks and classroom data to pivot and adjust your instructional strategy in real-time. - Culture Building: Actively participating in school-wide norms—from morning huddle to supervision—to maintain a safe, rigorous, and inclusive campus culture. - Collaboration: Working alongside grade-level and content teams to align syllabi, unit plans, and "Weeks at a Glance" (WAAGS) with Common Core and California State standards.
Requirements / Qualifications
You’ll need to have: - Bachelor's degree - A valid state Single / Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (or eligibility/enrollment in a CTC-approved program) - Strong content area knowledge - Commitment to closing achievement gaps and raising expectations for all students - Eligibility for employment clearance (AED, CPR & First Aid, Certificate of Clearance, Live Scan, TB screen), and other employment clearance Even better if you have: - Ability to build strong, positive, and trusting relationships, and to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team to achieve common instructional goals. - Skill in establishing and maintaining a highly structured, positive, and productive learning environment through consistent routines, clear expectations, and effective behavior management. - Ability to critically reflect on one's own teaching practice, accept and implement feedback from instructional leaders, and actively seek continuous professional growth.
