Makana North Shore Urgent Care is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organized Medical Receptionist / Front Office Coordinator to join our Urgent Care and Dermatology clinics in Princeville, Kauaʻi.
As the first point of contact for our patients, this role is essential in creating a welcoming, professional, and efficient clinic experience. The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced walk-in clinic environment.
This position is primarily responsible for patient check-in and registration, insurance verification, answering phones, collecting payments, and coordinating front office workflow to support smooth clinic operations. As part of a small independent healthcare team, this role may also assist with administrative support tasks, supply organization, and maintaining a clean, organized patient-facing environment.
For qualified candidates with prior clinical experience or certification, opportunities for cross-training in Medical Assistant support may be available based on clinic needs.
Responsibilities
The Medical Receptionist / Front Office Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring an excellent patient experience from arrival through checkout. Responsibilities include greeting patients, completing accurate registration and insurance verification, answering incoming phone calls, collecting payments, maintaining patient records, and supporting communication between patients and clinical staff.
This role also supports day-to-day clinic operations through document management, scanning and filing records, supply organization, and helping maintain a clean, stocked, and welcoming lobby and shared workspace. Flexibility and willingness to assist with additional front office and administrative tasks as needed are essential.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year of medical reception experience preferred
- Candidates with strong customer service, hospitality, or administrative experience are encouraged to apply
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Ability to handle sensitive patient and financial information confidentially
- Medical Assistant experience or certification is a plus
Clinic Hours / Schedule
Clinic hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with weekend hours typically 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Shifts may vary and may include 8-hour or 12-hour shifts depending on clinic needs and staffing. Typical schedules may include opening, mid, closing, and weekend shifts, with occasional extended 12-hour coverage. Some schedule flexibility may be available.
