Duties
- Operate and control wastewater treatment systems using programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to optimize treatment processes.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment, including pumps, valves, tanks, and heavy machinery, performing repairs or coordinating maintenance as needed.
- Collect and analyze data related to water quality parameters, flow rates, and system performance to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
- Manage heavy equipment operation such as tanker trucks for transporting sludge or chemicals safely and efficiently.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on mechanical systems, plumbing fixtures, and electrical components to minimize downtime.
- Assist in construction or upgrade projects by supporting installation activities and ensuring safety protocols are followed during heavy lifting or equipment setup.
- Maintain detailed records of operations, maintenance activities, and data logs to support regulatory reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating wastewater treatment systems or water treatment facilities with a strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes.
- Mechanical knowledge including equipment repair, plumbing skills, and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely, including tanker trucks and construction tools.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) used in automated plant operations.
- Strong analytical skills for data collection, process analysis, and problem resolution.
- Basic math skills for calculations related to flow rates, chemical dosages, and measurements.
- Physical ability for heavy lifting, prolonged standing or walking, and performing maintenance tasks in various environmental conditions.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation, construction activities, and water treatment environments.
