About the Position
MAK Group Home Corporation is seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities in the Columbus, Ohio area.
This specific assignment requires male staff due to the individual's personal-care and privacy needs.
The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of previous experience working as a DSP or providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, hygiene, and other personal-care needs.
- Provide supervision and support to ensure health, safety, and well-being.
- Assist with meal preparation, household tasks, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Support individuals with community outings, appointments, shopping, recreation, and social activities.
- Provide transportation when required.
- Encourage independence and assist individuals in developing daily living and community skills.
- Follow each individual's Individual Service Plan (ISP) and behavioral, health, and safety supports.
- Assist with medication-related responsibilities when properly trained, authorized, and required.
- Complete service documentation, progress notes, attendance, and other required records accurately and on time.
- Communicate professionally with individuals, families, guardians, coworkers, and other members of the support team.
- Follow MAK Group Home Corporation policies and applicable Ohio DODD requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Male staff required for this specific assignment due to personal-care/privacy needs.
- Minimum 1 year of DSP/direct-care experience required.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Must successfully complete all required criminal background checks and meet applicable employment eligibility requirements.
- Must be dependable, patient, compassionate, and professional.
- Must complete all required training and certifications.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required when transportation is part of the assignment.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
