Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group is seeking an Interim Deputy General Counsel for the next 4 months.
Overview: We are seeking an Interim Deputy General Counsel to assist with government contracts and general legal support
Company: Leading global company within the manufacturing and aerospace defense field
Experience: 5-7 years of government contract experience working with in-house legal teams within the manufacturing and/or aerospace defense industry
Location: Hybrid – Chicago or Remote
Responsibilities Include:
The Interim Deputy General Counsel will be responsible for assisting the U.S. General Counsel with providing a broad array of legal advice and services to the U.S. businesses. The position will report directly to U.S. General Counsel and will serve in a generalist capacity, with particular focus on federal government contracting as well as a variety of other areas, including contract negotiation, dispute resolution and employment matters.
Government Contracts
- Draft and negotiate complex agreements between the U.S. businesses and third parties, to include subcontracts with U.S. Prime contractors, supplier contracts, and IP‑related contracts, among others
Supply Chain Contracting – Terms & Conditions and Flow Downs
- Review and revise the company’s Terms & Conditions, to include FAR/DFARS Flow Downs, to ensure terms are up to date and represent best practices.
- Develop a contracts authority matrix, giving contracts teams negotiation authority on specific terms without the need to get approval from legal.
- Review and negotiate commercial agreements between the company and third parties as necessary.
Policies and Training
- Develop trainings on: (i) contracts best practices, (ii) the company's US Code of Business Ethics, (iii) supply chain best practices
- Collaborate with new Compliance Manager on information governance strategies, to include standardizing company policies and procedures to a consistent form
Counseling
- Provide general government contracts counseling and guidance to U.S. business units
Qualifications Include:
- JD from an accredited law school and bar license in at least one US state
- 5–10 years of experience working in-house at a manufacturing and/or aerospace organization, or working in the government contracts department of a major law firm
- Experience in government contracts, including familiarity with FAR/DFARS
Pay rate: $90
