What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager Club Finance position at Major League Soccer?
Overview
The Sr. Manager is primarily responsible for managing and supporting MLS Club financial analysis and reporting. This role works closely with Club finance representatives and various internal League departments to review and analyze Club results and projections, which helps the League better understand financial performance and maintain alignment with League policies.
The Sr. Manager will play an important role in strengthening reporting processes across Clubs, improving data quality, and identifying insights that support better decision-making at both the Club and League level. By working collaboratively with Clubs, the role helps turn reporting into a useful tool for understanding performance, sharing best practices, and supporting the League’s long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the collection and review of Club financial results including budget, projections and annual results. Conduct a thorough examination of each team and stadium P&L and in-depth analysis of all Club business functions, while enhancing the analysis and benchmarking insights shared with Clubs to help identify trends, best practices, and opportunities for growth.
- Support the development and evaluation of the League’s long-range planning process, partnering with internal stakeholders and Clubs to collect, analyze, and refine enterprise projections with a focus on Club business operations and long-term financial sustainability
- Oversee League ticket reporting and policy compliance, working with Clubs and third-party auditors to ensure adherence to League standards while analyzing ticketing trends, attendance patterns and revenue performance to support League forecasting and Club benchmarking
- Partner with internal stakeholders and Clubs to analyze the financial implications of the League’s new competition calendar, incorporating projections and scenario planning into the League’s long-range planning and Club financial forecasting.
- Establish strong working relationships with each Club’s financial representative.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 7 years of experience
Required Skills
- Strong financial and accounting skills
- Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail with the ability to analyze from a macro level as well
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally collaboratively across multiple departments
- Ability to build strong working relationships with multiple senior executives and staff
- Diligence and persistence in obtaining necessary information
- Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Adherence to confidentiality
- High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
