Baseball Economics MBA Internship
Position Description:
The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) seeks a summer MBA intern who will gain valuable experience working within a prominent sports union. The baseball economics summer MBA intern will assist the MLBPA in analyzing industry trends in support of collective bargaining. This internship is full-time and will start in Spring 2026 and run through Summer 2026.
Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Assisting the Senior Data Scientist, Economics & Collective Bargaining, and other staff in a variety of projects related to preparations for the MLBPA’s collective bargaining negotiations.
- Analysis and synthesization of large datasets including (but not limited to) those related to players, teams, and other leagues.
- Execution of internal deliverables including memos and presentations.
- Other projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should be finishing their first year of an MBA this spring and will start year 2 this fall.
- 1 – 2 years of relevant work experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technical skills including Microsoft suite of programs
- Strong data wrangling and data presentations skills (e.g., R, SQL, Python)
- Ability to understand and dissect financial information and financial statements
- Knowledge of Major and Minor League Baseball Players
- General understanding of MLB economics and industry
Location: Hybrid – New York City – 3 days per week in the office, while working the other two days remotely is preferred. Fully remote candidates will still be considered.
Salary: $30.00 per hour
