closely with teachers to
provide extra support to students in the classrooms and throughout the
school environment.

Essential Functions
1. Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and materials to support
and
reinforce classroom objectives while working under the direction of the
licensed staff member.
2. Attends a variety of meetings (e.g. staff meetings, in-services,
workshops,
first aid, CPI, emergency procedures, etc.) to acquire and convey
information
relative to job functions.
3. Communicates with a variety of individuals (e.g. supervising
instructional
staff, professional support personnel, etc.) supporting the
implementation of
IEP objectives and evaluation of student progress.
4. Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance (e.g.
diapering, tube
feeding, colostomy bags, medication, etc.) to meet immediate health care
needs while developing children\'s daily living activities and
behavioral skills.
5. Assists medically fragile or physically disabled students and helps
students
maintain personal hygiene.
6. Documents student\'s daily activities (e.g. behavior, completed
assignments,
on and off task times, etc.) for the purpose of completing daily logs
and
student\'s hourly activities.
7. Evaluates situations involving students interacting with others
(e.g. staff,
students, etc.) for the purpose of taking action and providing referral
for

resolution.
8. Implements behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students
with
behavior disorders or other special conditions to reinforce learning
concepts.
9. Maintains a variety of documents, files, and records (e.g. daily
log, reports,
etc.) for the purpose of providing written reference and recording
progress
towards IEP goals and objectives.
10. Models desired behaviors (e.g. conversation, manners, cleaning
activities,
listening, everyday interactions, etc.) for students.
11. Monitors student\'s daily schedule and behavior plan (e.g. class
schedule,
toileting, medication, appetite, etc.) and maintains a safe and positive
learning environment.
12. Provides academic support to students (e.g. reading, writing,
verbal skills,
etc.) and supports the implementation of IEP goals, assisting in
adapting to
mainstream classrooms, and ensuring student success.
13. R mains with students at all times ensuring the safety of students,
removes
students when necessary, and de-escalates situations outside the
classroom.
14. Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected
substance
abuse, bullying, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of
students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to
State
Law and school policies as a mandated reporter.
15. Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety
concerns.
16. Restrains students in certain circumstances (e.g. out of control
student, violent
student, etc.) to maintain a safe environment.
17. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient
and effective
