Part-Time Server - Upscale Casual Restaurant

Maize Cocina & Cocktails is seeking experienced, hospitality-driven servers to join our team in downtown Westfield, NJ.

We are an independently owned, chef-driven modern Mexican restaurant and cocktail bar located in the historic Westfield Train Station. Our approach combines creative food, thoughtful cocktails and genuine hospitality in a lively, polished environment.

We’re looking for servers who are warm, confident and engaging; people who know how to read a table, anticipate guest needs and create an experience that feels personal rather than scripted.

What You’ll Do

• Provide warm, attentive and knowledgeable service from greeting through farewell
• Guide guests through our menu and confidently explain ingredients, preparation and flavor profiles
• Make thoughtful food, cocktail, wine and spirits recommendations
• Use suggestive selling naturally to enhance the guest experience
• Accurately take orders and manage multiple tables during high-volume service
• Maintain strong communication with the kitchen, bar, hosts and management
• Monitor table pacing and anticipate guest needs throughout the meal
• Properly course meals and coordinate timing with the kitchen
• Handle POS transactions, guest checks and payments accurately
• Maintain clean, organized tables and service stations
• Complete opening, closing and side-work responsibilities
• Follow responsible alcohol-service, allergy-awareness and food-safety procedures
• Participate in menu tastings, pre-shift education and ongoing training
• Support private events, special dinners and high-volume restaurant events as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Previous serving experience in a full-service, upscale-casual or high-volume restaurant strongly preferred
• Excellent hospitality and communication skills
• Confident, polished and professional guest presence
• Strong food and beverage knowledge—or a genuine desire to learn
• Ability to describe and sell menu items enthusiastically without sounding scripted
• Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
• Ability to manage multiple tables while maintaining excellent service
• Dependable, organized and punctual
• Positive team-first attitude
• Comfortable working nights, weekends and holidays
