What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host(ess) position at Maisie's Green Brae?
MAISIE’S GREEN BRAE · TEGA CAY, SOUTH CAROLINA
Host(ess)
Full-Time & Part-Time · Front of House
You are the first person anyone meets at Maisie’s. The family who drove twenty minutes. The regular who’s been coming since week one. The delivery driver who’s been on their feet all day. The new neighbor who isn’t sure yet if this is their kind of place.
Every single one of them gets a real welcome. Not a script. Not a performance. The kind of greeting that makes someone feel like they were expected — like the room is genuinely glad they’re here. That’s the job. Everything else is logistics.
THE ROLE
You’ll run the front door and keep the floor moving. On a busy Friday night that means managing the waitlist, coordinating with servers, running curbside orders to cars, and handling large party logistics — all while making sure no one who walks through that door feels like an interruption.
What the work looks like day to day:
- Greet every person who enters — guests, delivery drivers, staff — with genuine warmth, every time
- Manage the waitlist and communicate wait times honestly and with care
- Seat guests thoughtfully, with an eye on server sections and floor flow
- Coordinate large party arrivals and help ensure their experience starts well
- Run curbside and delivery orders to cars promptly and with a friendly handoff
- Be the calm, organized presence at the door when the room gets busy
- Make sure every guest who leaves feels as cared for as when they arrived
WHAT YOU BRING
No prior hosting experience required. What we’re hiring for is harder to teach than any software or seating chart.
- Genuine warmth — you like people, and it shows without you trying
- The ability to stay calm, organized, and kind when the lobby is full and the wait is long
- Clear, honest communication — with guests, with the floor team, and with managers
- Enough self-possession to hold the door confidently on a packed Saturday night
- Comfort being on your feet and moving for the full length of a shift
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
WHAT YOU GET
We take care of the people who take care of the Brae.
- Competitive hourly wage
- Flexible scheduling — full-time and part-time positions available
- Employee meal benefit
- A front-of-house team that has your back and a room worth welcoming people into
A NOTE ON CULTURE
Maisie’s Green Brae was built to be Tega Cay’s gathering place — somewhere neighbors feel like friends and strangers feel like neighbors. The host is where that promise begins. Before the food. Before the drink. Before anyone sits down.
We’re looking for someone who understands that a warm welcome isn’t a courtesy — it’s the point. Someone who treats the delivery driver and the anniversary couple with the same steady kindness. Someone who, on the hardest nights, still makes the last table of the evening feel like the first.
