What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Electrician position at Maintenance?
TITLE: Lead Electrician
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid electrical contractor’s license as required by the State of Oklahoma and/or applicable local jurisdiction - Oklahoma City, Bethany and Warr Acres
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards
- Proven experience of commercial electrical power distribution systems including conduits, wiring, vaults, boxes, main panels, sub-panels, transformers and circuit breakers
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineered drawings and schematics
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in field environments
- Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License in good standing
- Must be fit and able to perform all duties
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Director
SUPERVISES: Electrical Crew
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the work of electrical journeymen and apprentices; monitor and track crew hours to support efficient operations; and ensure that the crew maintains all training and licensure(s)
- Maintain required licensing by Oklahoma Construction Industries Board standards
- Prioritize and assign work orders based on safety, urgency and school operational needs using a work order electronic management system
- Inspect work in progress and completion to ensure compliance with electrical codes, NEC standards, and district requirements
- Obtain required permits for electrical projects and compliance when required
- Respond, manage and resolve emergency electrical issues to maintain a safe learning and working environment
- Coordinate with other maintenance supervisors and district departments, as needed
- Annual inventory and ensure proper use of all tools, equipment, and materials in a safe and efficient manner
- Assist in developing, monitoring, and maintaining the electrical maintenance budget
- Track expenditures to ensure cost-effective use of labor, materials, and equipment and to keep all work within approved budget limits and as in compliance with board policies and applicable laws
- Provide positive support to all crew members with emphasis on troubleshooting, diagnosis, problem solving and grow through experience
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month basis. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy.
