TITLE:
LATCHKEY ASSISTANT COORDINATOR
An individual who is recruited to assist the Latchkey Coordinator in all administrative responsibilities of the district’s before and after school program
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, parents and the general public.
- Experience and training in working with daily child care/summer camp programs and PK-5 school age children.
- Knowledge of child growth and development.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and characteristics.
- Have experience and abilities to effectively and efficiently handle administrative responsibilities, including planning, budgeting, organizing, implementing programs and evaluating staff.
- Possess excellent computational and communication skills.
- Be knowledgeable and experienced in both computers/technology operations and applications for administrative functions.
REPORTS TO:
Latchkey Coordinator
JOB GOAL:
To demonstrate leadership, supervisory, and administrative skill; to develop and provide on-going improvement for an efficient district child care and summer camp program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
In the Absence of the Latchkey Coordinator
- Plans, organizes, implements, evaluates and supervises the district’s before and after school child care program and summer camp program in each of the established school sites.
- The degree of assumption to be determined and pre-arranged at the discretion of the Latchkey Coordinator.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with district employees, administrators, and parents of participants.
- Maintains a positive climate and environment for children.
- Establishes an efficient staffing plan to provide the appropriate number of employees and work hours needed at each site.
- Provides a new employee orientation program and on-going effective staff development programs for employees.
- Reviews performance, evaluates, and provides such assistance as may be needed in improving the work of all staff members.
- Schedules facilities, rooms and play areas for classes in each school in cooperation with building principal and district office.
- Establishes and maintains the program master calendar.
- Takes responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of children and staff.
- Establishes a system that provides an accurate record of enrollment and attendance of all children in the program.
- Visits, on a regular basis, all program sites during hours when the program is in operation.
- Establishes and maintains standards for proper student conduct and enforces appropriate disciplinary measures, as needed.
- Conducts regular meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the program.
- Assures that monies collected are deposited with the Business office in accordance with Board policies.
- Maintains monthly ledger book, monitors program accounts, reconciles bank statements, and performs other bookkeeping duties as per established business office procedures.
- Oversees the selection, purchase, proper use and replacement of all equipment, supplies, food products and other materials needed for program implementation.
- Oversees the preparation and distribution of brochures, parent handbook, employee handbook, and other program literature and supervises the publicizing of the program.
- Facilitates in the development and administration of the annual Latchkey Budget. In addition, prepares the annual child care/summer camp program budget.
- Observes of all Board policies and regulations regarding child care/summer camp programs.
- Understanding and maintaining school age child care licensing requirements for each latchkey site.
- Assist with the preparation of oral and written reports to the Superintendent.
- Hire and/or supervise afterschool staff.
- Meet with the Principal as needed.
- Assume responsibility for the building sites in the afterschool hours.
COMPENSATION:
Based on qualifications and commensurate with salaries prevalent with districts of the same size.
COMPENSATION:
$43,000 - $46,000

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy of Evaluation of Personnel.
