What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Control Supervisor position at Maintenance Man Unlimited?
MMU is seeking a dependable and hardworking Certified Traffic Control Supervisor to support a construction project in Bellevue, WA. Responsible for overseeing traffic operations, ensuring safety on traffic site, and assisting with flagging and other labor tasks on site.
1. Traffic Control Operations (70–80%)
- Manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow around construction sites, roadwork, and shipments.
- Set up, inspect, and maintain traffic control devices including signs, barricades, cones, arrow boards, and detour routes.
- Supervise flaggers, vehicles and pedestrians to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- Read, interpret, and make field adjustments to Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) as site conditions change.
- Coordinate lane closures, detours, and work zone activities in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable traffic control regulations, MUTCD standards, and City of Bellevue requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections and address hazards or deficiencies immediately.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, contractors, and city representatives.
2. General Labor & Site Support (10–20%)
- Perform general site maintenance including trash removal, sweeping, and cleanup activities.
- Assist with material handling, equipment setup, and other labor tasks outside of TCS role.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Valid Washington State Traffic control Supervisor Certificate. If hired, the company will not pay to renew.
- Valid Washington State Flagger Certificate.
- Ability to read, understand, and modify Traffic Control Plans (TCPs).
- Familiarity with City of Bellevue traffic control standards and permitting requirements preferred.
- Ability to lead crews and make decisions in fast-paced environments.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment as required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
