JOB SUMMARY:    

Performs MRI examinations, contributes to the efficient operation of the center, and promotes the philosophy to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school or radiology technology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed by the New York State Department of Health.
  • Within 2 years of hire to obtain certification in the discipline in MRI
  • Current BCLS certification

 STANDARDS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Report to work in attire that is professional, neat, clean, and appropriate for the work environment.
  • Wear proper identification at all times while on duty. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information at all times 
  • Report to work on time and meet acceptable standards for attendance.
  • Follow the Main Street Radiology Code of Conduct

 JOB DUTIES:

  1. Ability to perform all MRI examinations.
  2. Extensive knowledge of anatomy and positioning techniques.
  3. Extensive knowledge of the equipment utilized in the performance of MRI examinations
  4. Extensive knowledge of magnetic safety. 
  5. Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines.
  6. Demonstration of ethical and professional conduct.
  7. Provides open, accurate, and responsive communication, oral or written on an individual basis or in groups.
  8. Identify each patient and review each patient’s requisition for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information. Explain the procedure to the patient.
  9. Assesses patient condition before, during, and after examination. Report and document any pertinent information.
  10. Review each exam for technical accuracy. Ensure that that all pertinent patient information, anatomical orientation, and film identification are on all images. Present completed examination for interpretation.
  11. Performs all exams using ALARA standards
  12. Coordinate examinations to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care and assist in the management of workflow.
  13. Maintains exam room for optimum efficiency.
  14. Promote collaborative working relationships with colleagues. Participate in the orientation and training of new employees Contribute to the overall improvement of the department by offering suggestions and training.
  15. Maintain confidentiality of all center information.
  16. Initiate applicable “incident reports” by the end of the shift and report incomplete and incorrect examinations to ensure the proper patient charge and continuity of patient care.
  17. Report all safety hazards that could harm patients, visitors, or other employees to the appropriate party.
  18. Establish and maintain a good rapport and cooperative relationship with center staff.
  19. Monitor inventory of supplies and notify supervisor when stock is low.
  20. Performs other duties as necessary

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Capability to be independently mobile.
  2. Ability to manage physically aggressive patients.
  3. Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance, reach, stoop, and bend while maintaining a good mechanical position.
  4. Ability to perform tasks for long periods with multiple distractions.
  5. Manual dexterity is sufficient to operate the equipment.
  6. Hearing and visual acuity are sufficient to perform examinations, observe patients, read monitors and documents, and hear equipment alarms.
  7. Ability to work within a limited space.

 

INTERRELATIONSHIPS:

  1. Interpersonal skills are necessary to interact effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and families who may or may not be under physical and emotional stress.
  2. Ability to maintain confidential information.
  3. Provides excellent customer service to all patients, physicians, and co-workers.
