Performing all Nuclear Medicine and PET examinations contributes to the efficient operation of the center and promotes the philosophy to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.

 QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Graduate of an accredited school or nuclear medicine technology.
  2. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the Society of  Nuclear Medicine Technologists
  3. Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

JOB DUTIES: 

  1. Ability to perform all nuclear medicine examinations.
  2. Extensive knowledge of anatomy and positioning techniques.
  3. Extensive knowledge of the equipment utilized in the performance of nuclear medicine and PET scans.
  4. Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines.
  5. Demonstration of ethical and professional conduct.
  6. Extensive knowledge of radiation safety.
  7. Provides open, accurate, and responsive communication, oral or written on an individual basis or in groups.
  8. Performs other duties as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS:

  1. Identifies each patient and reviews each patient’s requisition for consistency of examination ordered with a clinical diagnosis and all demographic information. Explains the procedure to the patient.
  2. Follows all radiation safety policies. Ensures that all daily, monthly, and yearly quality control procedures are performed as per policy. Reports any breaches of radiation policy to the supervisor, physicist, administrative director, or radiologist.  
  3. Assesses patient condition before, during, and after the examination. Reports any pertinent information.
  4. Reviews each exam for technical accuracy. Ensures that all pertinent patient information, anatomical orientation, and film identification is on all images. Presents completed examination for interpretation.
  5. Coordinates examinations to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care and assists in the management of workflow.
  6. Promotes collaborative working relationships with colleagues. Participates in the orientation and training of new employees Contributes to the overall improvement of the department by offering suggestions and training.
  7. Assists in the training of student technologists  
  8. Maintains confidentiality of all center information.
  9. Initiates applicable “incident reports” by the end of the shift and reports incomplete and incorrect examinations to ensure the proper patient charge and continuity of patient care.
  10. Reports all safety hazards that could harm patients, visitors, or other employees to the appropriate party.
  11. Provide the proper notification for absence or tardiness.
  12. Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative relationship with center staff.
  13. Monitors inventory of supplies and notifies supervisor when stock is low.
  14. follows the MSR Code of Conduct. 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. Capability to be independently mobile. 
  2. Ability to manage physically aggressive patients.
  3. Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance, reach, stoop, and bend while maintaining a good mechanical position. 
  4. Ability to perform tasks for long periods with multiple distractions. 
  5. Manual dexterity is sufficient to operate the equipment. 
  6. Hearing and visual acuity are sufficient to perform examinations, observe patients, read monitors and documents, and hear equipment alarms.
  7. Ability to work within a limited space and in dimly-lit rooms.

 

Salary : $50 - $55
