The Fine Gardener at MainStay Landscape plays an essential role in maintaining and enhancing our clients’ gardens while developing professional landscaping skills. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about horticulture, eager to learn advanced techniques, and ready to contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team. Fine Gardeners work directly under experienced leaders, performing detailed horticultural tasks with care, precision, and attention to safety, while representing MainStay’s high standards in the field.
Horticultural Care & Garden Maintenance
- Perform planting, transplanting, mulching, weeding, cultivating, edging, watering, fertilizing and deadheading.
- Carry out horticultural practices that ensure the health, beauty, and longevity of gardens.
- Learn and apply MainStay’s Fine Gardening Division technical standards and quality practices.
- Operate and maintain landscape trucks, trailers, and equipment (experience a plus).
Field Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work closely with the Fine Gardening Crew Leader to execute daily tasks and priorities.
- Follow all safety protocols, task oriented SOP’s, worksite rules, and conduct guidelines.
- Contribute positively to team cohesion and performance.
- Communicate effectively with team members and, when needed, with clients.
Skill Development
- Build horticultural knowledge and refine technical landscaping skills through hands-on training.
- Pursue opportunities for professional certifications in the landscape industry.

Qualifications & Skills

- Prepared to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, with proper gear.
- Ability to drive landscape trucks/trailers.
- Equipment operation experience is a plus.
- Strong listening skills and commitment to quality work.
