What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable and Payroll Manager position at MAINE VETERANS HOMES?
We are seeking an Accounts Payable and Payroll Manager to oversee accounts payable and payroll processing operations across all MVH locations. This hybrid role serves as a key liaison between Finance, Human Resources, and site leadership while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing and reconciliation for all locations
- Supervise accounts payable functions, including vendor management and invoice workflows
- Ensure compliance with payroll taxes, wage laws, and reporting requirements
- Manage payroll, AP, and time & attendance systems, including system updates and data integrity
- Oversee Maine Public Employees Retirement reporting, benefit payments, and payroll-related GL entries
- Perform payroll audits, account reconciliations, and support month-end close
- Serve as a resource to HR and Business Office Managers on payroll and benefits
- Supervise Accounting Assistants and support team development
- Assist with audits, 941s, year-end reporting (W-2s, 1099s), and workers’ compensation audits
Qualifications
- 5 years of accounting/payroll experience required
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, payroll processing, and benefits administration
- Experience with payroll taxes, compliance, and reporting
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Healthcare experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
