Job Goals: To provide a safe, orderly, and clean school environment, including school grounds.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Experience in basic mechanics, carpentry, painting and/or other skills, as deemed necessary.
- Valid Criminal History Record Check certificate
- Knowledgeable in operating motorized equipment, cleaning/general building maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Legal and Ethical Duties:
- Maintains confidentiality related to all aspects of written records and oral communications.
- Demonstrates respect for the rights of students, teachers, other staff, and parents.
- Follows health and safety procedures established by the District.
- Arrives and departs punctually, and promptly notifies the building secretary/principal when s/he is to be absent.
- Demonstrates loyalty, dependability, and integrity, as well as other ethical standards.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the cleanliness of their area of the building, as delegated.
- Painting, stripping and waxing floors, cleaning carpets, general maintenance, and other duties assigned to ensure the building is clean and in order.
- Does repairs of the building, furniture, and equipment.
- Upkeeps grounds by mowing lawns, removing snow, and cleaning, as necessary.
- Secures buildings, classrooms, offices, etc., provided they are the last to leave the building.
- Understands safety procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) compliance regulations.
- Responsible to check and upkeep the furnace room, heating system, pipes, radiators, ceiling leaks, etc. during the school day and on weekends as assigned.
- Participates in professional development related to maintain/improve job-related skills
- Ability to use tools, operate motor driven cleaning equipment, lift up to 50 pounds, and other physical demands, as needed.
- Is a positive role model for students and supports the mission of the District.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members
- Keeps informed about and complies with State, District, and school laws, regulations and policies for custodians.
- Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required by the principal(s).
- Performs other such duties as assigned by the building principal.
