What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMCC - HVAC/R Instructor position at MAINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM?
Title: HVAC/R Instructor
Bargaining Unit/Salary Level: Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the MCCS Trustees and the MEA Faculty Unit. The salary range is in the low $50,000s.
Responsibilities: This full-time, on-campus faculty position in the Facilities & Maintenance Management department will begin in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a combination of day, evening, and online courses. Teaching load is governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which currently requires a workload equivalent to 25 credit hours per semester. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will actively contribute to curriculum development, academic advising to students, designing lab/shop exercises and ordering associated consumables, designing curriculum assessments delivered through Brightspace, and helping with student recruitment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or certificate in HVAC or Plumbing
- Five years of work experience in the HVAC or Plumbing field
- State of Maine Master/Journeyman Oil Burner Technician license or a Maine Gas Service and Connection Technician license
- EPA 608 Certification
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Maine Plumbing and Fuel Codes
- Experience with commercial and residential ducted systems or dual fuel systems
- Certification in Mitsubishi M&P or Daikin/Samsung/Fujitsu mini-splits
- Licenses with the State of Maine as a Master/Journeyman Plumber
