What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Administrator position at Main Street Congregation Church?
Progressive, mission-focused church seeks a part-time administrator with strong office and interpersonal skills. The administrator will report directly to the pastor and work in cooperation with the trustees and executive council.
Twenty (20) hours per week, hourly rate to be determined based on experience.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reception duties – greet and assist the public in a friendly manner, answer and route incoming calls and mail
- Order and maintain adequate office supplies and oversee maintenance of office equipment
- Maintain church calendar and coordinate event publicity
- Maintain church website and Facebook page
- Worship bulletin preparation
- Maintain membership and financial databases
- Create a weekly digital newsletter
- Ensure information about weddings, funerals, baptisms, confirmations and membership is recorded in the church records
- Post and file committee meeting minutes – extract relevant dates from minutes for church calendar
- Serve as liaison to rental groups
- Serve as the contact for minor building repairs and services
- Maintain and facilitate the process for building key requests
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- General office skills – familiarity with office equipment, detail-oriented, organization and simple mathematical knowledge required
- Office computer skills are mandatory, including experience with word processing, office, and database software applications
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with many people regularly. Ability to exercise tact, discretion, confidentiality, mature judgment, and a spirit of cooperation
- Critical thinking, troubleshooting and time-management skills
- Willingness to learn new software programs and skills as needed
- Previous experience with website and social media management preferred
Hours: 4 days/week, 5 hours per day, 20 hours per week (to be determined)
Compensation:
- There are six paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
- Paid Time Off is 8 days per year (prorated for the first year)
- No other benefits are included
