Accounting ManagerBrooklyn, NY onsite but possibility for hybrid in certain situations80-115KAbout the RoleAn established service organization is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to lead the month-end close process and support the Assistant Controller by overseeing a small accounting team. This is a newly consolidated role—ideal for someone with strong accounting skills and a proactive mindset who's ready to grow into a supervisory position.You'll take ownership of financial accuracy and process management, while guiding entry-level staff accountants and bookkeepers. This is a hands-on role for someone detail-oriented, self-directed, and eager to take on responsibility.Key ResponsibilitiesMonth-End Close & Financial OversightOwn the month-end close process: reconciliations, journal entries, reportingReview work completed by staff bookkeepers and support data accuracyEnsure deadlines are met and financials are clean and on timeTeam Support & Light ManagementServe as a point of contact for 1–2 junior staff (bookkeepers, staff accountants)Provide guidance, feedback, and informal leadershipNo prior management required — just readiness to take responsibilityOperational Finance & ToolsUse QuickBooks and Excel (must be proficient in formulas and data analysis)Help streamline processes and support the Assistant Controller with finance opsMaintain clear, well-organized documentation and processesWhat We're Looking ForMust-HavesSolid accounting experience (industry agnostic — healthcare, nonprofit, etc. all okay)Strong QuickBooks skills and comfort working with spreadsheetsSelf-starter who's comfortable taking ownership without micromanagementWillingness and readiness to supervise others (even if not done before)Highly dependable, accurate, and able to prioritize tasks independentlyEmail resume to: Baila@maiplacement.com
