Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Legal Assistant to join our team. This individual will play a key role in supporting attorneys and ensuring the smooth operation of daily legal and administrative tasks. Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings, court dates, and deadlines
- Draft, proofread, and format legal documents, including pleadings, contracts and correspondence
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and answering general inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality
- Organize and maintain both physical and digital case files, ensuring accurate record-keeping and document retrieval
- Assist with billing processes and track attorney hours using office software (ProLaw)
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow within the law office
- Utilize legal management software (ProLaw and Lexis Nexis) and office tools (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Enter and update client and case information in database accurately and efficiently
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a law office is preferred.
- Associate's degree or higher is preferred
- Strong proofreading skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures and document formatting
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional demeanor
