Provides support and assistance to the Imaging Department in caring for patients and family members during the imaging process, completing clerical/computer duties, lifting/transporting of patients, and following hospital and departmental policies, protocols, and SOPs (including Radiation and MRI safety). This position assists imaging technologies and department staff to improve workflow efficiency and enhance patient care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the Imaging Technologist by prepping equipment and imaging room for exam; completing basic patient assessments including verifying patient orders, completing patient questionnaires, reviewing patient history, patient preparation and instruction
- Communication with other members of the health care team to help coordinate patient care
- Facilitate patient care including, lifting, transport, chaperone and monitoring of patients
- Explanation of exam to patient and/or family members or caregivers
- Assist with Imaging computer information and data entry including PACS system
- Ensure the adequate availability of supplies, linen, paper, etc. to include stocking supply items
- Follow MRI and radiation safety policies and procedures
- Follow hospital and department Core Values, SOPs, policies, and standards
- Register and check-in patients
- Participates in the education of imaging patients
- Follows the Imaging Department procedures and protocols
- Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives
- Follows HIPAA Guidelines
- Adheres to the standards of Magruder Hospital’s corporate compliance policies and seeks guidance and training when necessary to resolve questions about the policies. Reports violations in accordance with corporate compliance and organizational standards
- Other duties as requested or assigned
- High School Graduate or Equivalent / GED
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Basic computer skills including typing/keyboarding and ability to proficiently use a variety of software applications such as Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent telephone etiquette
- Excellent customer service skills
- Self-motivation is essential
Preferred:
- Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and imaging procedures.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited radiologic, ultrasound, or nuclear medicine technology program
Certifications and Licenses Requirements:
Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- BLS certification is required upon hire. ACLS certification is required to be achieved as soon as possible but not later than six (6) months after hire date. All certifications required in this job description must be maintained by the employee throughout their employment.
