Position Summary
Magnum Electric is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager with electrical construction experience to oversee projects from estimating and bidding through execution and final closeout. This position will manage project schedules, budgets, purchasing, subcontractor coordination, and client relationships while ensuring work meets contractual requirements, applicable electrical codes, and safety standards.
The ideal candidate has a background in electrical construction, experience with commercial or multi-family residential projects, and strong organizational and communication skills. Previous project management experience is highly preferred. This role will also support estimating, proposal development, and sales activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
- Manage electrical construction projects from initial estimating and planning through installation, completion, and final closeout.
- Develop project schedules, establish milestones, and monitor progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within approved budgets.
- Coordinate office and field personnel, contractors, vendors, and owner-contracted services to maintain efficient project execution.
- Establish project communication procedures, approval processes, and documentation tracking systems.
- Review bid packages, specifications, contract documents, and construction drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor project costs and financial performance to ensure work aligns with estimates and contractual requirements.
Client & Contractor Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with general contractors, owners, architects, manufacturers, vendors, and installers.
- Provide project updates to clients, general contractors, and Magnum Electric management.
- Review and respond to requests for information (RFIs), change requests, and other project-related inquiries.
- Participate in design coordination meetings, pre-construction meetings, site inspections, punch list meetings, and project closeout activities.
- Delegate assignments and follow up with team members to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
- Assist with sales activities and maintain positive relationships with clients and potential customers.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Oversee electrical construction activities and coordinate Magnum Electric field personnel.
- Manage purchasing, material coordination, and project cost accounting.
- Ensure work complies with applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, state and local codes, project specifications, and contract documents.
- Promote and maintain a strong commitment to jobsite safety.
- Ensure project records, approvals, and construction documentation are accurate, complete, and properly coordinated.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current Master or Journeyman license in North Dakota or Minnesota
- Electrical construction experience, preferably in commercial or multi-family residential projects.
- Previous project management experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, construction plans, and specifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience working with architects, contractors, clients, and vendors.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing demands, and maintain attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and software used to review or edit construction drawings and project documents.
- Ability to manage project schedules, budgets, estimates, and contract requirements.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to travel occasionally as project needs require.
Preferred Experience
- Four or more years of construction experience.
- Three or more years of electrical construction experience.
- One or more years of project management experience.
- Experience with commercial, multi-family residential, or hospitality construction projects.
