We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our team in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance across a diverse portfolio of generating plants, including coal, gas, and renewable energy facilities. This role is integral to the success of our construction and operational projects, serving as the driving force behind the implementation and management of a robust Quality Assurance and Quality Control program across the MN region. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that all project construction meets established quality standards, safety requirements, applicable codes, environmental regulations, and customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement inspection and testing procedures for materials and onsite services
- Monitor project construction activities to identify defects, deviations, or non-conformities and implement corrective actions as needed
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams, reliability engineers, and contractors to drive process improvements and resolve quality issues
- Develop and maintain quality management systems and conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Review and develop Quality Control plans utilized during project sourcing, planning, and execution phases
- Train employees on quality control procedures and best practices to foster a culture of quality throughout the organization
- Coordinate and perform shop visits for critical inspections, hold points, and factory acceptance testing
- Monitor the quality of products and control the efficiency of processes to ensure specifications and standards are consistently met
- Investigate root causes of failures, maintain quality standards, and recommend actionable improvements to prevent recurrence
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles, methodologies, and best practices
- Proficiency in developing and implementing inspection and testing procedures
- Ability to identify non-conformities and drive effective corrective and preventive actions
- Excellent analytical and root cause analysis skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external contractors
- Ability to develop, review, and manage Quality Control plans across all project phases
- Experience conducting internal and external quality audits
- Knowledge of safety requirements, environmental regulations, and applicable industry codes and standards
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Experience:
- Prior experience in quality control or quality assurance within the energy, power generation, or construction industry is strongly preferred
- Experience working with coal, gas, or renewable energy generating facilities is a plus
- Demonstrated experience conducting factory acceptance testing, shop inspections, and hold point verifications
- Proven track record of developing and implementing quality management systems and audit programs
- Experience training and mentoring employees on quality control procedures and best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field
- Relevant professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar quality management credentials are preferred
- Certifications or training in applicable industry codes and standards, such as ASME, ANSI, or NFPA, are a plus
